“I lost my mother to Colon Cancer and I was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma on my right pelvic bone. When I was diagnosed I felt fear. Fear of dying and not being around to enjoy my grandkids who are so young… not being remembered by my grandchildren. Fear of all the treatments. I struggled with feeling alone, with daily pain, with feeling like an outsider and being labelled. Trying not to be bothered by people staring at you in pity because you limp so badly. Having a place where I don’t feel like an outsider has had such an impact. Connecting with others who truly understand what you feel, and who offer support and encouragement has been so important. You travel so much for treatment and appointments and surgeries that it is important to have support close to home. Thank you, Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre for the difference you make! You really give people Hope!“
